Yesterday, Morgan got into the nail polish. I can not believe this child could unscrew the tops.......oh wait. Yes I can. She painted her toe nails...........
.......and her face........
.......and her legs and arms......and the counter.
She was very, very proud. Unfortunately for me, this wasn't a "throw in the tub" kind of fix, unless you fill your tub with nail polish remover. Let's just say this was a two parent job to get her cleaned back up.My more productive children.........
....spent their first few hours WORKING at the restaurant. Most of you know that we own a restaurant and the kids have grown up there. But yesterday was their first time really putting on aprons, interacting with the guests and helping out. I think they really enjoyed it, and I got to go grocery shopping with only one kid!! Will and I are going to do this little arrangement all summer long, I think.
On a side note, I, for the first time ever, am reading through ALL my childhood journals. I wrote faithfully from about 9yrs-20yrs old (we are talking almost daily). I have never read them (all 9 of them) straight through. HOLY CRAP! I can't believe my life at 13!! It was so intense. So dramatic and passionate. Some of it makes me chuckle now, but it was SO REAL to me then. I had forgotten what some-what mature emotions I had felt at such a young age regarding my reality, my family, my religion and my friends and I am so grateful I can now read them. I want to be a plugged in parent for my teenage daughters and this served as such a reminder of what their little minds and hearts are capable of at such a young age. I need to honor that. It also reminds me how much I want to encourage my own children to keep up on their journals. What a blessing.
