For Family Home Evening, we talked to the kids about their divine potential, to create anything that want to with their lives. To become anything they choose to become. We reminded them how smart, talented and unique they were and if they were willing to ask the Lord for help, they could do anything with their lives.
We watched this video:
Then read and talked about this and this.
Then we read this:
"The third quality of those who live abundant lives is that they, with the help of their Heavenly Father, create a masterpiece of their lives.
No matter our age, circumstances, or abilities, each one of us can create something remarkable of his life.
David saw himself as a shepherd, but the Lord saw him as a king of Israel. Joseph of Egypt served as a slave, but the Lord saw him as a seer. Mormon wore the armor of a soldier, but the Lord saw him as a prophet.
We are sons and daughters of an immortal, loving, and all-powerful Father in Heaven. We are created as much from the dust of eternity as we are from the dust of the earth. Every one of us has potential we can scarcely imagine.
The Apostle Paul wrote, “Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him."
Deemed the amazing creators that we are, we created our Christmas Ginger Bread Train, which to be honest, was a total train wreck (pun intended). But we had fun......

So last week, I was in a bit of a funk, for several reasons, but in a funk none the less. It was like I was having an out of body experience that I couldn't pull myself out of. But, I had to laugh as I noticed a few things that have become clear indicators that I'm in a funk, depressed, struggling.....whatever.
- I boycott all tight, or even normal fitting clothing and live in my sweats and uggs.
- My girls leave the house with their hair NOT done.
- My pantry looks like a bomb went off (because my neglected children get to fend for themselves).
- I graze like cattle for food all day long.
- I wake up at 2am to stand in front of my demolished pantry and graze some more.
