A couple of weeks ago, Will was out mountain biking in Capital Forest, which has an incredible system of trails through out it. He was having a great ride, but it started to rain a bit and get darker, so he decided to head off the dirt track and onto the main paved road to bust back to the car.As he was cruising back, he came around this bend in the road to find part of the PAVED road COMPLETELY washed out. Gone. 15 feet of road just missing. He slammed on his brakes to not fall in but threw himself over his handle bars and landed at the edge. He hit the ground VERY hard. Sadly, there were NO warning signs in anyway preventing this from happening.
He made his way back to the care (adrenaline is an awesome thing sometimes) and drove himself to Urgent Care. By the time I got there, he was sitting in the waiting room, wrapped in wet blankets, dirt still all over his face, shivering uncontrollably and in a ton of pain.
Though he was bruised and banged up terribly, luckily, nothing major had broken. Such a blessing. It was his chest and back that took the brunt of it. However, it's been three weeks and he still is really struggling to move around, get out of a lying position or heaven forbid COUGH. He is still swollen and bruised.
We went back to the spot he had crashed 5 days later and by then, the road was barricaded and heavy equipment had been brought in to start fixing the road. A little too late for Will.........
Will had his sternum cracked open for his open heart surgery several years ago, and I am just so grateful THAT didn't bust back open. That is a LONG recovery. Been there. Done that.
Anyway, my heart has been going out to Will, who spends his days icing, medicating and trying to do his best to go back to life as usual. He's a tough one. Hopefully complete healing is around the corner.

You poor things! I can't believe he had to get injured in a place you are understandably FREAKED out by. I'm glad he is okay, and I hope you can survive the stress that is the injured husband.
