Time Out for Women 2009

It was time for Time Out for Women again (yes, we just went 6 months ago to Portland) and this time it was in Seattle. We had a group of anywhere from 8-12 girls through out the weekend and we had so much fun! I guess I should explain that Time Out is a women's conference through our church that brings in incredible speakers and musicians for an incredibly uplifting weekend.

But when there is women, there is always food involved. Lots.

This was the view out of our hotel room on the 24th floor! No, we didn't fit all 8 girls in one room.....we did have two.

This is Hilary Weeks, who I LOVE. I first started listening to here music when I was 16, and have followed her ever since. She is INCREDIBLE!! And I found out this weekend she plays Racquetball! How cool is that!?

Friday evening, the musician was Jenny Oaks Baker, who is an award winning violinist that use to play with the National Symphony Orchestra. She was incredibly talented and so funny. What an opportunity to see her.

This was the music hall the conference was in. It was beautiful!

Friday night, we headed back to the hotel room and played lots of games. I was the first loser on this one......

The next morning we headed back over for another day of incredible messages....and of course, more food!

Coincidentally, it was also Seattle's St. Patrick's Day Parade too.

And my dear friends Polly and Dea. Yes, I missed the scarf memo. Um, and can you tell that I only got 90 minutes of sleep?

Spending a few days away from the kids, in down town Seattle, with my best friends is something that I NEED. It's priceless! There were so many good impressions I had from the speakers that I could never do justice to here. But here are a few things that touched my heart that are short.

• In war, the enemy's first priority is to break down the communication lines. And that is exactly what Satan tries to do with us. Get us to not pray to God and communicate with each other. If he can do that, the downfall becomes easier. We must pray and keep the lines of communication open to Heaven.
• Satan wants us to keep busily engaged in a multitude of good things, to keep us from doing the REALLY important thing that are eternal.
• Appearance can be an outward representation of an inner commitment, but do we spend more time working on the appearance rather than the commitment?
• Sometimes the only thing that will keep you standing is getting on your knees.
• Of course God sometimes gives you a little more than you can bare. If he didn't, what would be the point of a Savior?

There were some many other great thoughts that are just too long to put on here, but it was a wonderful weekend, with wonderful friends. I am grateful my husband is so supportive of me getting my "girl time" in. I know I'll be a better wife and mother for it.

And IF you get the chance to go to a Time Out for Women, I really recommend it. This was my 4th, and I have never been disappointed.
