Mt. Washington Climb

This is pretty much how I spent the last two days. It's rough, I know. We are SO, SO GRATEFUL. I don't know what else to say. This summer has been much better weather compared to last summer, and we are living it up at the lake.
Morgan spends HOURS (no exaggeration there) throwing rocks in the water, with her snow boots on.....generally naked, but I thought I'd spare you that.

Wednesday morning, Jamee drove out and met up with Will at 5:30 in the morning to head out to hike at Mt. Washington. Not a huge mountain at a little over 6300 ft, but the guys are leaving next Wednesday to climb the BIG one (Mt. Rainer) so they are spending as much time going UP as possible.
Catching a little bit of the sunrise on the drive out........
The point right in the center of the picture above is Mt. Washington, the summit they were heading for. The trail head was not very well mark, and the directions were vague, so they had to forge their own trail for a ways up.
Our manly men.........
That pretty much qualifies for UP I think. That's like rock climbing, not mountain climbing if you ask me. Yes, truth be told, I'm a little jealous. I would love to do a DRY mountain climb like this, but it's so hard to pull off with 3 kids, so I'm just glad one of us is getting to do it. We are definitely going to make an effort to do more climb/hikes together. Don't get me wrong. About this time Dennese and I were lounging around the like, enjoying the sunshine.
They summited around lunch time and ate up on the top for about 30 minutes before heading back down.
Pretty awesome view!!!
This little pretty waterfall was actually just near the trail head.
I'm a LITTLE nervous out them climbing Mt. Rainer. I know they have trained and prepared, but.......stuff happens. Still, I am so excited for Will to have that experience.

Up next, new roof put on the house tomorrow.......so guess where I am heading?? :)
And Uncle Logan is heading up for a visit!!

Bring on a marathon anyday - I DON'T do UP! Even when backpacking, I like my nice secure trail, preferably with no sheer drop-offs nearby!
