Pumpkin Toss 2009

As many of you know, we have an annual family tradition of going to a High Steel Bridge about 45 minutes away and throwing pumpkins off it. Who doesn't love chucking something off a bridge that is 420 ft high???? We were pretty proud of the HUGE pumpkins we had this year.

The Mahoney's came with us. We hit some flooded roads on the way out, which the kids loved. Talk about cheap thrills!
We brought the three big ones and the Mahoney's brought 10-15 little and medium ones so the kids could actually lift and throw them themselves. A little unnerving having the kids on a bridge that high.......
Deaven and Korban we just as content to chuck their spit over the railing and watch it fall for 10+ seconds, like true boys.
This picture doesn't quite do justice to our grand finale this year. It was pretty stickin' big.
Despite the LARGENESS, I think last year's drop with a smaller one might have been louder. You be the judge. The one on the top is this year with the 60 pounder, the one below it is last years at about 25lbs, and the one of the bottom is hitting the rocks instead of the river. I'd turn off my player to really hear the boom!

The 60 pounder definitely made a louder crack. What a fun Halloween tradition. Can't wait to see what you throw at Thanksgiving.
