Loving Mother's Day!

I had absolutely the best Mother's Day weekend. The weather was beautiful!! Saturday, Will did a climb with the Ward up Mt. Ellinor and the big kids had a birthday party to attend. So that meant I got in some great Racquetball, and then got to work on my book for several hours (sitting in the sunshine, I might add).

After church on Sunday, we packed up and went for an "Adventure" as we call it in our family, which means we have a general plan, but make no commitments to the kids about what we will actually be doing for the day. We decided to go explore more of the Capital Forest area, which is about 20 miles from our house.

On the way, we drove up on this HUGE bird's nest at the top of a pole along this country road. It was so cool!! We could see the bird inside it too.
It was huge! Very cool!
We meandered along the Black River (which we found had several places to put in Kayaks. Will and I plan to do that little adventure now). We stopped at North Creek Campground, that was right along the river. There was suppose to be a little 4 mile loop trail along the river bank, but we couldn't ever find it. We did explore the river in both directions and the kids had a blast.
This makes me happy. Sitting in the sunshine, kids throwing rocks in the water, nobody else around.
It was such a beautiful area and the funny thing is as we pulled out of the campground, THERE was the trail head for the hike we had been looking for. Whoops! Guess we will be heading back!
Morgan and Will were cracking me up. Morgan definitely doesn't hold still while she is in the back pack, and Will is SO PATIENT!!
So very, very patient.
Any question that these two are related???
Like I mentioned earlier, Will went up with the Ward on the Mt. Ellinor Hike on Saturday.
Such a great opportunity for many of the youth to experience this type thing.
The weather was pretty great for them!! It could have been so much worse!
Getting ready to slide back down the mountain........
Mother's Day ended with Will cooking dinner and folding up some laundry. Pretty much the best gifts ever!

And the party just continues.........Long story short, I was suppose to be flying to Omaha this weekend to hook up with a girlfriend and go to Time Out For Women's Conference, BUT AFTER we bought our tickets, they canceled the event. So.......we changed plans and I am heading to visit my friend AT HER HOUSE in Cincinnati, Ohio. I haven't seen Christy in two years, but we do manage to talk every single day. She's my "go-to" girl on so many topics. We are going to have a blast!!

We must do a stretch of that river together ... or I won't show you the East Satsop river section that I've picked out for you already.

I think it's the Fed Bureau of Land Management that puts up the nesting poles for birds of prey.
