Will took the day off work on Thursday to take Deaven on his first mountain ascent on Mt. Ellinor. It's about 55 minutes from us, and gains about 2,000 ft in only 3 miles. It's a full fledged climb for little legs.
The trail head starts snow free, but quickly changes.......
From the minute Will mentioned he was going to try to take Deaven earlier in the month, Deaven has been SO excited to go.

Will said that Deaven kept up a pretty great pace and was strong the whole time.

This trail is notorious for mountain goats (which is why Will loves it). Little secret: you PEE on the rocks to "feed" the goats. They go nuts for it.

More mountain goat company. We are super proud of you Deaven and so glad that you are learning to love the outdoors as we do.
Back at home, we had a girl's day......complete with going to the mall (which Morgan calls "going to the BALL" and having lunch at Apple Bee's. Carol, as always, has been WONDERFUL to have around, but had to head home early this morning.
My kids just crack me up sometimes. Do your kids do this? Make little "bed nests" our of laundry baskets, or are my kids just that small??
We were watching Alice in Wonderland.

Oh, Deaven, you good man! I'm sure you are hooked now on why going places most people don't go is so good ... as you see and experience things most people don't see and experience. The picture of you looking down at Lake Cushman is fantastic. It was overcast when I did that climb and I didn't even know the lake was there. Thanks for the tip on how to attract the Mountain Goats.
