If I EVER have to live the last 20 minutes of my life again, it will be too soon.
I was harmlessly going about my grocery shopping at Fred Meyers. It was time to check out and due to Will's bday this week, I had a bunch of stuff....way more than usual. I quietly appreciated my kids being so good as the cashier said, "$240.37 please". I grab my wad of cash (literally, because I always pick up our tip money before I go shopping, and leave my wallet behind. Usually works out nicely. Not today. ). Suddenly, it seemed MUCH smaller than before. I only had $120. Umm.......that's a HUGE gap. We started talking about suspending my order, while my head spinned of how I could have so grossly miscalculated. Then I saw the REST of the wad of money, further in my purse. Yea!! I pulled it out, counted it, and realized that I had $239, $1.47 short of my bill. I was so embarrassed as I asked the nice lady to put back the Fruit Loops to make it work. Then someone a few people behind me CALLS ME BY NAME and says, "Cheyenne, how much money do you need?". Okay, seriously, I didn't recognize this person at all, but kindly said, "Oh, that's okay. We are good now". I was so embarrassed. I finally get to leave, with Peyton mourning over her lost Fruit Loops. As I get my keys out, $60 more dollars come with them. Lovely. I could have really used that a few minutes ago and now Peyton is ecstatic that we can go back to get the Fruit Loops. Not happening.
Thinking my drama has passed, I head to the car and start to unload my groceries. I pick up the card board box of 12 cans of Spirit and it rips. One can falls out and gets dinged just enough to start SPRAYING ALL OVER me. WHAT DO YOU DO WITH A SPRAYING CAN OF SPIRIT IN THE MIDDLE OF A PARKING LOT??!!! I thought about kicking it, but decided to just pick it up (while getting sprayed in the face) and move it a little ways away. I am almost done, but have to pull the flat of water bottles off the bottom of the cart. As I start to come back up with the bottles MY HAIR GETS STUCK in some of the medal wires of the cart at the bottom of the basket. I tug, nothing. I wiggle, nothing. I put the water bottles down and try to pull my hair out with my hand. Nothing. So now I am stuck UPSIDE DOWN with my hair stuck in the cart, and a spraying can of Sprite. I don't even want to know how many people saw me. I mean, I was upside down for a good minute. Like the good little Mormon girl I am, all I said was, "You've got to be kidding me".
I finally got free, the can stopped spraying, and I was on my way. Not my finest moment, but it could have been worse, right?

Thanks for sharing your pain. I would die at the checkout counter. That is waaay too much panic for one day, be sure to at least get a bowl of ice cream.
Oh, man, now that's one for the books. Too awful! It seems like the MOST embarassing things happen at the grocery store for some reason. Well, you've gotten it all out of your system now and should have many, many perfect trips after this one. Feeling your pain, couldn't quite laugh.
So, that was quite an experience. I have to admit....I did laugh. Just a little bit. Hopefully you'll have many shopping trips in the future that will be super easy.
That is awesome!!!! Sorry about that moment for you, but I sure enjoyed it.
That stuff always seems to happen when your cart is full & you have your kids with you. Crazy!
I guess it will give you a nice moment to look back on & laugh. :)
man-o-man-o-man-o-man. you've got to be kidding me! I'm sorry, Cheyenne! - Amie
